My memoir about my dad’s life philosophies sometimes helped me in my life. But the most important thing he taught me is included in Adytum.
“I don’t want you to be as hard to live with as I am. Stay out of the dark and quiet whenever you can. And when you write, write about something extremely important to you.”
My outlining of how PTSD affected my life was what came of my father’s advice in the quote above. I have made it my goal to enlighten as many people as I can about how PTSD can affect everyone around it. Adytum, I hope, is my legacy to all families dealing with survivors of trauma. While your lives may not be totally ‘normal’, as mine was not, it can be full and meaningful. How my family dealt with trauma may help you cope. This is the something that is extremely important to me: our Adytum.
