Creating a Supportive Space for PTSD Sufferers 2:

First, all survivors of trauma should know the PTSD treatment centres near to where they live. If there is no specific PTSD treatment centre near you, you should research online treatment options so that you are prepared when the need to talk things out arises.

Do not be shy about finding a PTSD treatment option for yourself. Many, many people seek these centres so that the information pops up on the computer without too much effort on your part. AND, no one will know you searched for PTSD treatment centres except you and your therapist. Privacy is a given; privacy is also understood through online PTSD treatment options. Do not face your challenges alone—that would be a poor choice.

Following is more information from The Horsham Clinic in Philadelphia, Pa.:

A strong support system is crucial when dealing with PTSD triggers. Your support system can include many people including family members, friends, or mental health professionals (found online or at any PTSD treatment centre near you.)

All survivors of trauma need such a support system to provide emotional assistance during tough times. Your support system is there to help you avoid potential triggers and to help you cope when triggers do occur.

Creating a safe environment for yourself is very important to your mental health. Your safe environment involves minimizing exposure to known triggers (which your mental health professional can determine with you) so that you always feel secure.

ALWAYS REMEMBER: If you or someone you know is in crisis, having thoughts of suicide or needs a safe place to talk, you can call 988.

988 is the number to call if someone is worried about a person they know OR if you yourself are thinking about suicide.

Call or text 988 for toll free help without judgement. Support can be accessed in English or in French.

Lastly:

Kids Help Phone can also support you. Call 1-800-668-6868 (24 hours a day/seven days a week.)

OR text CONNECT to 686868
